The TX version produces 142 (DIN) b.h.p. at 5,500 r.p.m. and 161 ft./lb. torque at 3,000 r.p.m. The compression-ratio is 9.2 to 1. The car is nose-heavy but disguises excessive understeer when cornering but, although sure-footed, the 30TX is not exciting to drive. It has adequate but not outstanding heating equipment, with a horizontal knurled.

Later versions of the V6 Renault-Peugeot-Volvo co-operatively engined 30 series will feature lower standard. equipment (which is truly outstanding in the 30 TS) but it will be some time before anyone will be able to buy a 30 that costs less than the present French cost of E3,500.

These transmit the power to the front wheels via a 9.25-in, clutch and constant-velocity jointed drive-shafts. In usual Renault fashion the 30TS is fitted with wishbone, coil-spring, independent suspension all round.
